Division: Applications and Services Engineering
Since Bing launched in June of 2009, the search world has changed for the better. We’re helping people break free from search overload and enabling them to make decisions with Bing’s powerful, friendly tools. We’re attracting new users and changing how people think about Microsoft and Search. We have a long road ahead and we need your help! Key to our continued success in this hypercompetitive space is taking enormous volumes of data and turning them into useful, actionable information to drive increased user engagement through great Bing features and improvements. We’re talking petabytes of data about how searches succeed, how they fail, and how we can improve Bing and our partner properties like maps, commerce, travel, and more.
The Bing Domains Data Quality and Measurements team is looking for a strong SDE to join us in building reliable and scalable measurement frameworks. The team is charterd with providing business impacting metrics on the various facets of structured data index that Bing uses to power various user results and value adds, especially for local search. The team’s challenge is to build a cohesive set of measurement approaches, services & tools that will enable Bing to scale out both the quantity and complexity of structured semantic web data that is processed, at an ever increasing speed and quality. This requires understanding Search and Bing’s technology stack end-to-end; developing deep expertise in web-scale distributed processing, machine learning, analytics, metadata management and crowd-sourcing; partnering with multiple engineering and research teams to make the most of advances in platform & research; and building a team culture that is agile, aims high, and takes pride in excellent software craftsmanship. If you are capable and passionate about taking on all of these challenges, then this role will provide you the scope and opportunity to have a significant impact across Bing’s verticals. The successful individual in this role will deliver world class software and also deeply influence the culture and direction of the team.
