Job Category: Software Engineering: Test
Location: Bellevue, WA, US
Job ID: 858327-130122
Division: Applications and Services Engineering
Since Bing launched in June of 2009, the search world has changed for the better. We’re helping people break free from search overload and enabling them to make decisions with Bing’s powerful, friendly tools. We’re attracting new users and changing how people think about Microsoft and Search. We have a long road ahead and we need your help! Key to our continued success in this hypercompetitive space is taking enormous volumes of data and turning them into useful, actionable information to drive increased user engagement through great Bing features and improvements. We’re talking petabytes of data about how searches succeed, how they fail, and how we can improve Bing and our partner properties like maps, commerce, travel, and more.
We're driving the overall test automation infrastructure across Bing. As Bing becomes more agile, reliable automated tests becomes crucial to ensure we only ship to production high quality bits. We in the Core UX team have developed state-of-the-art test technology that allows us to be super-agile, with 100% test automation. Our product is completely gated on the quality of our tests. We're looking for someone who can take the technology that we built for one team in Bing and expand it to all the other teams in the organization. The person will work closely with the various engineering managers across the Bing organization in designing and implementing the strategy to get all the teams in Bing to a state where agility and quality verification are fully optimized.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The position will require a very hands-on approach to the problem of test automation and reliability across the Bing organization. There will be a need to understand in depth the test automation methodology used by each team, understand the gaps and work with the different teams to fix the gaps in the test automation/infrastructure. There will be monthly debriefs to upper management on the status of the test automation/infrastructure across the entire organization, which will provide great exposure to the architect.
Skills & Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be very proficient in algorithms, design, problem solving, C#/C++/ASP.Net and data mining, strong communication and presentation skills, strong conviction and power to persuade others, understanding of distributed-online systems and experience in building/using different test automation frameworks and testing methodologies.
Experience Required:
Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of engineering experience, proven experience in developing/testing distributed online systems, and a B.Sc (preferably M.Sc.) in Computer Science or related field.
Microsoft is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) and strongly supports diversity in the work place.
