Job ID: 852743-124431
Division: Marketing

Just three years ago, Microsoft was all but counted out of the search game. Since then, Bing has more than doubled US query share when few outside Microsoft believed it could be done. We have struck strategic partnerships with Facebook, Yahoo, and Nokia to name but a few and introduced the unthinkable possibility that Google may have a viable challenger.

A key part of our strategy is landing significant differentiation that will inspire users to try Bing. We believe that for every search there is at least one person that can help, and by integrating relevant information from social networks, we can materially impact a user’s search experience.

The Bing team is hiring a strong Sr. Product Marketing Manager responsible for Bing's social search experiences. Social search is a huge bet for Bing as we seek to bring the richness of the exploding social web (e.g. your Facebook friends' opinions, real-time Twitter trends, collaboration scenarios) into the search experience. This is a highly strategic role with broad responsibilities that span inbound product management and outbound product marketing areas including:

- Frame the future: Partner with the research and analysis and business development teams to assess market dynamics, identify opportunities and threats, understand user needs and trends, and build business cases for big bets in the social search space.

- Trusted business advisor: Understand business performance and user feedback for Bing's social search features and build strong partnerships with engineering to help inform and shape product planning.

- Launch and learn: Orchestrate the value prop, story, BOM, and marketing plans for Bing's social search features and partner with marketing communications on launch and messaging strategy.

This role requires strong leadership and communications skills, strategic and structured thinking, and comfort with quantitative analysis in order to drive execution and decision-making across teams. Ideally, you have worked with engineers to influence product roadmaps, have experience with business strategy and analysis, and have storytelling and consumer marketing chops.

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of product management / marketing, strategy consulting, product planning, or related experience.
- Proven cross-team skills and ability to influence engineering and marketing communications.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated business strategy experience.
- Passion for the social media space (e.g. Facebook, Pinterest, Foursquare).
- Experience in consumer, particularly internet, technologies is useful.
- MBA preferred.

This role is based in Bellevue, WA. Travel will typically be <10%.
