Key to our continued success in this hypercompetitive space is taking enormous volumes of data and turning them into useful, actionable information to drive increased user engagement through great Bing features and improvements. We’re talking petabytes of data about how searches succeed, how they fail, and how we can improve Bing and our partner properties like maps, commerce, travel, and more.
Bing is becoming the information fabric across Microsoft devices and services, and our index is the heart of Bing. Virtually all Bing experiences start with Microsoft having a comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date copy of the Internet. The Bing Index and Knowledge team is looking for an exceptional PM leader to drive our index generation system forward into a new era to help power new experiences across Bing and the company. You’ll help build the system that discovers new webpages, decides which to crawl and how frequently, and starts to understand the content of the pages. It’s harder than you might guess to do this well, and it’s getting even more challenging as companies target different form factors and languages and use new technologies to build their sites.
If you’re our ideal candidate you have a proven track record delivering broad, impactful user and business results in a high quality way. You’ve got that rare mix that combines seemingly disparate skills. You have big picture insights into the Internet and large scale systems as well as a bottomless understanding of the details. You are a ninja with a wide array of weapons to understand a problem space, from large scale data analysis to one-on-one user interviews (and the judgment of when to use which.) You’re equally comfortable representing Microsoft in the industry as you are rolling up your sleeves with our awesome dev team to solve hard technical problems. You also a talent magnet and accelerator of PM skills, both for those reporting to you and those around you. Most important, you have the foresight and persistence to drive a long-term strategy as well as the agility and humility to learn and adapt to an ever-changing Internet.
