Bing Local Search team is looking for a talented Software Design Engineer with desire to design and implement solutions solving difficult problems, with the ability to create, innovate, and define the next wave of Bing search technologies. Our charter is to provide best-in-class local segment and location relevant data and search services through Bing, Office, Windows and other key partners on both desktop and mobile. As part of Bing Global Development Initiative, we have the opportunity to serve local data to global customers in 30+ markets. As a key player in our team, you will be working closely with other highly motivated Search engineers. On this job, you will help mine the web and other sources for relevant data, scale algorithms and implement global improvements, and you’ll have the rare and exciting opportunities to build core local and mapping features such as auto suggest, user location detection, GEO coding and high performance data services. If you have a passion for collaborating with talented individuals, for coding efficient implementations of challenging algorithms, for excelling in a small, dynamic, team-oriented environment, and for building production-quality services that compete directly with offerings from Google, and others, then you will be interested in us. Success in this position requires a broad set of experiences and skills, ranging from excellence in core engineering to the ability to build a collaborative working relationship with other engineers and disciplines. We are looking for a passionate, creative, self-starting Software Developers who thrive in dynamic environment, experience in areas such as information retrieval, data mining, machine learning, or natural language processing are strong preferred.
Specific required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) is required; MS / PhD or equivalent experience is desired
Strong algorithm and analytical background and very good understanding on how to apply advanced knowledge to solve real problems
Machine learning knowledge and skills are strongly preferred
Large scale data processing, modeling and analytics experience are strongly desired
5+ years of experience of OO design, implementing, debugging, profiling, and tuning of large-scale web services.
Solid knowledge of one of the following: C++, C# and .NET Framework.
Experience in parallel or distributed processing, high performance computing
Ability to work independently in a team to deliver innovative solutions solving challenging business/technical problems. From high level vision and architecture, down to quality design and implementation.
Ability to handle ambiguities and collaborate across multiple groups
Experience in large scale, real world data processing/analysis, data mining and machine learning strongly preferred
Effective verbal and written communication skills
